About Weber – Much More Than A Grill
About True Value Philippines:
Growing up, one of my favorite afternoon snack is suman. Suman is a sweet sticky rice cake that is steamed with coconut milk while wrapped by a banana leaf. This Filipino delicacy is best enjoyed through dipping it in sugar or drizzling it with latik. I often find myself craving for one but nowadays there are only a few street vendor who sells this. Good thing Senyor Juan’s Suman Latik catered to my cravings.
I went to their Sm Mall of Asia Branch as this was the nearest branch to my house. I was greeted with the stalls upbeat music, colorful logo and the sweet aroma of fresh steamed suman. The staff smiled and greeted me as they introduce one by one the best selling flavors.
ESPESYAL UBE MACAPUNO SUMAN LATIK-P69
This was the first suman that I tasted that have ube macapuno on top. There was a large amount of ube that was served with this suman. This is a melt in your mouth treat, the blend of ube macapuno with the suman latik made me crave for more. Mixing two of my favorite delicacy made me one happy girl. I actually finished this on one sitting and that is how good it was.
Manga or mangoes is one of my go to fruits during the summer season. Senyor Juan did not disappoint as when I took one bite of this suman latik with generous amount of sweet mangoes on top and sprinkled with peanuts, I felt so refreshed. It was a very hot day when I did this food review, so my palette was craving for something light and sweet.
I always eat leche flan with halo halo or as it is as a dessert. When this suman latik topped with leche flan and sprinkled with peanuts was served, I was delighted and curious at the same time. I never knew that leche flan could taste good with suman latik as both of them are already sweet. The flan did not overpower the taste of the latik, it actually enhanced it and delivered another scrumptious surprise.
I usually eat my suman latik steamed so when I was given this particular fried version, I was bit surprised. It was my first time tasting a fried suman latik that was sprinkled with chocolates. This is ideal for introducing suman latik to kids. It was colorful, tasty , sweet and let’s not forget it was sprinkled with a generous amount of chocolate.
FRIED CHEESE SUMAN LATIK-P75
Mangosteen Dalandan Honey Juice P45
I have tried mixing mangosteen and honey before so I was quite excited to try this one as it was mixed with dalandan. This was like a breath of fresh air for me. It was tasty, refreshing on a hot day and perfectly paired with any of the above mentioned suman latik. I would definitely purchase this one again.
Dalandan Honey Juice P35
Gourmet Coffee Barako P35 and Homemade Hot Choco Tablea P99
Since the weather in the Philippines is unpredictable, this hot treat is the best way to go during rainy day season. I would loved to try this out on my next visit. So I can put a proper description on how good it is when paired with suman latik.
PACKS OF 6 AND 12 TAKEOUT
Senyora which was the 6 pieces cost 199 and Senyor which was the 12 pieces take out cost 399. Each box include the latik and the budbud and this can be shared to your friends and family.
Senyor Juan’s Suman Latik is highly recommended as they added a unique touch in serving their summan latik. This innovative sweet treat also has a lot of health benefits. My entire family loved their classic suman latik as well. I would definitely repurchased their ube macapuno, manga and leche flan flavor.

Bo’s coffee has always been my favorite coffee shop since I was in college. Apart from the shop’s aesthetically pleasing design, their locally-produced coffee is what keeps me from coming back. Coffee is a staple piece in my table, may it be breakfast, lunch or dinner. As a nurse I have to stay awake and alert all the time that is why I can consume more than 3 cups of coffee a day. As I am always on a rush due to my workload, I haven’t really learned how to brew properly so I was excited when I got my invite to the Bo’s Coffee Appreciation day.
Upon entering the BF Aguirre Branch I was immediately welcomed by a strong smell of freshly brewed coffee . Bo’s coffee staff shows great example of Filipino hospitality with their exemplary service and warm smile. We were taught how to taste, smell, and check the color of each coffee beans. My personal favorite was “sagada” as I find the taste well blended between sweet and bitter.
MAKE YOUR OWN CUP OF BO’S COFFEE
As they say, the first meal of the day is the most important one. If you’re in a rush and need to get things done, scoot over to your nearest Bo’s coffee shop and feast on their new offerings:
Bo’s Big Breakfast Club Palate (P295.00) >>scrambled egg, 3 pieces of toasted bread, bacon, corned beef and bite size franks
Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato (P205.00) >>BLT is everyone’s favorite. Crisp lettuce, fresh tomatoes and that irrestistable Bacon.
Bacon Pesto (P195.00) >>Another bacon variation? No problem with me, I like my bacon everywhere 🙂 This one is my favorite as it was a melt in your mouth goodness when you take the first bite.
Mango Cheesecake (P140.00)>>Mangoes have the perfect sweetness, add them to cheesecake and it’s a match made in heaven!
ATTENTION TO DETAIL
BF Paranaque is one of the place to be when you want to have a gastronomic experience. It is one haven for food lovers and millennials flock to this place just to check out the latest buzz. As I have mentioned above BO’s coffee is truly an eye candy with its minimalistic yet posh appearance perfect for hang outs, meetings or get together. Being a millennial I am keen on the details and aesthetic of the place as its one factor that can make me settle unto a place where I feel comfortable.
Each store of Bo’s coffee features local artistry and craft. The chandeliers are designed by world-famous designer Kenneth Cobonpue while the chairs are colorfully upholstered by ANTHILL Fabric Gallery.
A TREAT FOR LOYAL CUSTOMERS
A unique way of providing rewards to its loyal partners is given by the prestigious coffee shop. Bo’s coffee is generous enough to reward the first 100 customers with every store inaugurated. The first in line at the opening will get one cup of coffee every day for a year. That is 365 cups in total! Since Summer vacation is already in effect, the kids have more time to be glued unto their electronic devices and prefer to stay indoors. My 9-year old niece, Cassie, had never been to Intramuros before so I planned a whole day to explore it with her. Intramuros is one of the oldest core districts in Manila that still maintains its rustic design. The first task on our trip was to tour around the Walled city with our Bamboo bike from Bambike.
Next, we rode around Casa Teatrillo to our heart’s content while my niece’s eyes gleamed with amazement as there were some people roaming around the streets who were wearing traditional clothes such as the Baro’t Saya. Finally, we stopped by Memorare Manila and Manila cathedral to cool down. Riding the bicycle is great for kids as it promotes independence, brings out the inner explorer in them and gives us ample time to enjoy simple things like sharing the yummy Pocket sandwiches from Gardenia.
The good thing about this pocket sandwiches is it comes in two flavors. Gardenia Chocolate Pocket Sandwich is made with soft and creamy White Bread with rich chocolate filling and sealed to lock in its goodness.
Gardenia Peanut Butter Pocket Sandwich is made with soft and creamy White Bread with luscious and milky peanut butter filling and sealed to lock in its goodness. This is my niece’s favorite flavor as the Peanut Butter filling is smooth and yummy. Both sandwiches are High in iron, folate, vitamin b1 and source of vitamin A.
These pocket sandwich is high in Iron and folate which contributes to normal formation of red blood cells & hemoglobin; Vitamin B1 which helps release energy from proteins, fats & carbohydrates; it is also a source of Vitamin A which is essential for the function of the eyes. This is also affordable at Php 15 at any leading supermarkets.
Having fun in the Summer doesn’t need to be expensive like having a staycation on a hotel or taking a trip outside the country. Exploring Intramuros, the beautiful vintage part of Manila, can create the best bonding time with your family. Furthermore, unplanned trips are the best ones and it wouldn’t be complete without your travel essentials. So slip into your Summer clothes, bring along your camera, and don’t forget your Pocket sandwiches from Gardenia to keep you from being hungry! Here’s my unforgettable #PocketFullOf #SummerFun this month. How do you spend your summer?

Aside from being the Shoe Capital of the Philippines, Marikina has been keeping up with the current trend in the food scene, thus, the presence of food parks. I have heard of Carnival food park when my best friend showed me a clip of a tour that was done to promote the latter. I was privileged to be one of the bloggers who had a gastronomic experience with 6 different restaurant offerings. Carnival food park is already a home for 26 stalls that will cater to anyone’s craving.
Upon entering the vicinity you will be greeted with the Food Park’s spot on interior including the creative road signs that will entice one’s curiosity. Along with 5 blogger friends here is my top 6 restaurants to try at Carnival Food Park .
Filipinos love a good serving of rice in their meal especially if it’s topped with the traditional well-loved viands. A mother and son restaurant that is owned and managed by Elena and Lawrence Lagamson, they brought their own twist to the Filipino delicacies such as the Tapaleng and Crispy Kare-Kare.
Tapaleng was named after Lawrence’s favorite dish and nick name in high school. This dish is a combination of sweet and spicy with a siding of fresh Tomatoes and salted egg. The tapa was so tender with a flavorful combination of sweet and spicy. The salted egg complemented the freshness of the tomatoes.
The dish is a fusion of Lechon Kawali and Kare-Kare. The Lechon Kawali was cooked to a perfect crisp that will make you crave for more. Kare-Kare’s sauce was nutty and sweet with fresh vegetables incorporated in the mix. The presentation of both dishes including Tapaleng was served using a mini frying pan which is good for sharing.
This dish is made with a fusion of spring roll and Sisig. I was hooked with just one bite as it was light and less oily. An additional factor why I love this dish is that it was drizzled with garlic sauce which gave a more zesty taste to it.
Being a fan of Japanese delicacies I was anticipating to try their dishes out. Sushi and Burrito had been my comfort food and just the idea alone got me hooked, it was fresh and creative. Owner Ms. Charmaine Reyes and conceptualized and executed by Chef Marco Bitong: together they created a Burrito sized sushi for those who are craving or need more servings in one sitting.
The Beef Misono and Chicken Karaage were both crispy and delectable although we got to taste it after 20 minutes or more as we were overwhelmed with the amount of food that was served. The star dish for me was the California Maki. It was delightfully crafted as the sweet taste of the fruit got my taste buds celebrating. I highly recommend all dishes since all servings are already good for sharing. Fair warning: this dish requires you to use your hands as it was quite big than your normal Burrito.

The name alone is quite groovy and was well conceptualized as they specialized in seafood platter. The seafood menu was not their main market at first but because of the rule of the food park that it had to be a different concept than the other stalls, they stuck to it and I am glad they did. Mrs. Ma. Pacencio Dancel, the owner, said that the Mussels are sourced fresh from Palawan while the Shrimp and Crab are freshly sourced from Bicol.
Salted Eggztreme Platter is one delightful treat as the sauce is creamy and I do hope for more flavor. Eating the crab was a challenge as I wanted to taste the different parts of it but I can only do so much with my utensils. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The butter and garlic mussels tasted fresh and seasoned. They do have a lot more to offer for all the seafood lovers out there.
There was one dish that I kept on coming back for more which was the Calamares with vinegar dip. It was light and tasty and was cooked just right. This is best for gimik days and can be enjoyed with a cold beer or drink.

Brewskie is owned by Oliver Canlas, a restaurant that is a haven for pasta lovers. They serve pasta that can cater to your appetite’s delight with a modern twist that works well with any palate.
Wen Manong Pasta, a carbonara fettucini with a Bagnet topping sourced from Ilocos and sausage mixture, is one of their best sellers. The pasta’s creaminess complemented the taste of the salty Bagnet, it was truly a match made in heaven. This is one of the first dishes that we finished together as it was not only aesthetically pleasing but also one delectable dish that you can eat in one sitting. The serving is good for sharing and they do go heavy on the sauce making it more tasteful.
The Kung Fu pasta reminded us all of Yellow Cab’s Charlie Chan. This pasta was a combination of a lot of ingredients but what makes it stand out was it was spicy yet seasoned. It was a melt-in-your-mouth experience and all together it created a scrumptious meal.
So for people who likes to indulge on a meat fiesta Planet Sausage is the stall to go. They offer grilled sausages such as Shublig, Chicken franks,Garlic sisig, Longganisa and many more. You can enjoy all of these with rice, on a bun, on stick or if you are not sure what to get, they also offer a sampler size.
I love Bacon in general so when I saw Zesty Saturn, a Swedish sausage that was wrapped in bacon, I did not hesitate to taste it. It was tender and flavorful.
Pluto Platter was a combination of different sausages and chips. So if you are not sure what sausage to get, this platter is for you as you can share it with family and friends and try out the scrumptious selections of their grilled offerings.
Saturn-in-a-bun is a Swedish sausage wrapped with Bacon and mango, and topped with cheese. It was a different kind of experience as when I first took a bite it was light yet the sweetness of the Mango complemented the smoky saltiness of the Bacon. This dish comes with fries on the side which is also tasty.
I was welcomed by Havey Desserts’ interesting wall art that depicted what their store is about. Havey desserts started out as a home-based hobby of Angel Bautista who also does customized cakes and pastries. She and her husband Carl ventured to a wider market by creating a stall that showcased Angel’s very own recipes.
The Yema cupcake was the first one I tasted and it was truly divine. The cake was light, moist and the taste was just the right sweetness. I am a fan of this cupcake and will surely go back just to order this.
Nutella Cupcake has the same delightful taste only this time the sweetness came more from the Nutella on top as the icing is not that sweet and the cupcake was moist.
The Revel bar has a rich chocolate flavor and would perfectly go well with any cup of tea. It was not that thick and yet it was aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.
The Double chocolate chip ala mode was one spectacular ensemble as it was a 7in cookie cake that was drizzled with chocolate syrup and topped with Vanilla ice cream. We ate this very quickly as the ice cream was already starting to melt. It was a melt-in-your-mouth goodness with the chewiness of the chocolate cookie that would perfectly go well with a glass of milk.
I am a fan of Red velvet cupcakes so I know how heavy it can get compared to the moist cupcakes above. It was a great cupcake with an icing that was sweet yet I find myself indulging for another bite.
I highly recommended the last one I tasted which was the Nutella stuffed chocolate chip cookie that was topped with Vanilla ice cream and drizzled with chocolate syrup plus sprinkled with Graham cracker bits. The inside of the cookie was oozing with a good amount of Nutella which is complemented with the Vanilla ice cream. The combination brings out the moist and chocolatey taste. I would definitely go back to Havey desserts for their scrumptious desserts and yummy creations.
Carnival food park is one of the places you get to find worthwhile and affordable dishes. It is highly recommended not only for the Millenials but also those families that wants to experience the freedom to choose from more varieties of food.
Carnival food Park is located at 87 Mayor Gil Fernando Ave, Marikina City and opens from 4:00pm to 12:00mn
I fell in love with Bo’s coffee ever since I first tasted their mixed berry tea at their Mall of Asia Branch. What I also love about Bos coffee is their advocacy and continuing support for our locally produced coffee beans. Thus when you buy a cup of coffee it gives ample support to our local coffee farmers.
Upon entering bos coffee I was quickly greeted with a warm and pleasant smile from the staff. Filipino hospitality was exhibited in the way they deliver their services. The aroma of the coffee is inviting and the taste is simply exemplary.

GoodAh is well-known for being an all native Filipino food chain when it opened in the 80’s and not only for coining the “si” meals that we loved today but was also the first fast food company to operate an “Open 25 hours” and “7 days a week” food service operations. GoodAh welcomes 2017 with a new branch in Baclaran and an introduction of a new revamped version of one of the most coveted Filipino dish last January 16, 2017. They could not have picked a more greater location as Baclaran is in the heart of the most busy and well visited City in the Metro especially on Wednesday’s when Baclaran church is jam-packed with devotees.
With already 7 stores “Open 25 Hours” in Metro Manila, GoodAh!!! starts this new year with another branch to open. GoodAh!!!’s newest branch will be ready to serve people in Baclaran and quell cravings for their favorite Filipino dishes all day, every day. The Baclaran launch will coincide with another new and exciting dish that many Filipinos love. The popular all-Filipino food chain will be offering their own Krispy take on a favorite Filipino classic dish, Kare-Kare!
GoodAh!!!’s Krispy Kare-Kare or “KKK” uses ground peanuts to give that traditionally rich and earthy flavor to its kare-kare sauce. A large bowl is filled with cooked string beans, talong, pechay, and of course, puso ng saging because it wouldn’t be much of a kare-kare without it. A good amount of soft and juicy beef flank joins the dish. Sautéed shrimp paste gives kare-kare a different dimension to its play on flavors, which is very much like how this Filipino dish became a classic that everyone loves.
But what GoodAh!!! adds to the table is what gives it the “K” in the KKK. The usually gamey ox tripe or what Filipinos usually “tuwalya” is tough to eat if not cooked properly— usually by slowly cooking it in a pot or by cooking it in a pressure cooker. What GoodAh!!! did was to fry the ox tripe to give it a crispy texture, which is a complementing contrast, especially to the soft flanks and rich sauce of kare-kare. It’s a real crispy twist on the classic dish! GoodAh!!!’s Krispy Kare-Kare is available for just Php 299 a la carte or everyone can have it in a set meal for just Php 339.
This exciting new dish is the centerpiece offering for GoodAh’s newest branch in Baclaran, Pasay City opening this January. The launch of the newest branch will have special guests along with GoodAh!!!’s top management heads to enjoy GoodAh!!!’s 8th branch to date. Included in their lineup of guests is GoodAh!!!’s brand ambassador and celebrity talk show host, Mr. Boy Abunda.
GoodAh!!! continues to push culinary boundaries with this new and exciting twist on kare-kare, much like their recent, wildly popular food offerings: Crispy Pata and Bulalugaw. And GoodAh!!! has been doing this for more than 30 years, as seen in their first coined acronym dishes like Tapsilog, Tosi, Longsi, and many others that has become a ubiquitous part of popular Filipino meals today— and each one is “Pagkaing Good for Every-All”.
