I’ve learned a lot from living alone, but one of the most unexpected things I’ve discovered to be entertaining and useful is playing online food games.
One of the most difficult things for me when I first moved out on my own was cooking. I could prepare the essentials, like toast, pasta, and eggs, but I was a little lost when it came to meal planning and picking up new skills. At that point, I discovered culinaryschool.org which offers over 150 online games that have proven to be a fun and stress-free method of improving your cooking skills.
Initially, it served only as a diversion. I would look for games on food and see what came up. Some focused on managing a food truck or producing elaborate meals, while others were about operating a virtual restaurant. However, I soon discovered that a lot of these games allowed me to learn the basics of cooking in an enjoyable, practical manner—without having to worry about failing.
Here are some of my favorite games:
Who in the world doesn’t know Spongebob? Kids and kids at heart will enjoy Spongebob Squarepants Krabby Patty Crisis because of their familiarity with the yellow character who lives in a pineapple under the sea. The game is pretty straightforward and extra challenging especially the mode where Mr. Krabs crosses the screen the whole time to make your game complicated. Players’ accuracy will be tested because of its difficulty.
Recycling is fun when Tom and Jerry are on your team. The mechanics of Tom and Jerry show River Recycle are simple yet the goals are easier said than done. Imagine increasing the number of trash you’ll have to pick up at each level that you progress which seems to be impossible. But, if you keep trying and pushing yourself to do better, you’ll eventually make it. I had to give it a rest at level 3 for the moment, but I’ll sure be back. The game will keep you on your toes.
3D Fruit words may be basic but it’s perfect to ease boredom. The time limit set for each level will keep you awake. You’ll be surprised how many fruits there are and discover how similar they are to each other. You’ll have to be certain about the fruit or else you’ll be spending time spelling the wrong one.
Fruit Sorting tests your accuracy as it displays your accuracy after every game. The satisfaction of improving your accuracy appears to be more of a challenge as the game goes further. It starts with 2 fruits then adds two more in the middle of the game. Using the mouse to play this can develop hand-eye coordination.
Up Next is Grocery Cashier. Getting behind the grocery counter might sound like a no-brainer, however, with the time limit set, the task at hand seems to be more difficult than it appears. The application makes you realize how enjoyable or stressful the job is based on how you perceive it. It gives a rough simulation of the actual job which can be quite entertaining.
Burger Maker, as the name suggests is indeed as simple as making a burger. As usual, time makes the task almost impossible to achieve. Fulfilling a specific order can be done if you’re focused. Playing the game gave me ideas of what burger I would do next time I have hunger pangs in the middle of the night. I didn’t know there could be a variety of ingredients involved in making one.
I saved the best for last. Milk for Cat requires creativity and tactics. Cutting the rope simply isn’t cutting it. The game is addicting and relatable because I do have a cat that I always feed. Watching the cat smile after accomplishing a mission is a relief. While some levels require just cutting the rope, other ones need you to use your IQ more. I’m glad the game allows you to repeat the same level where you’re at until you succeed and not restart at the very first one.
Despite its difficulties, living alone has allowed me the freedom to learn at my chosen pace. Cooking has become a fascinating adventure thanks to the culinary school.org food games I’ve played.
The alt-rock quartet Imago joins Sony Music Entertainment’s esteemed roster
Filipino alt-rock band Imago has officially signed with Sony Music Entertainment, joining an impressive roster of local acts. The signing marks a significant milestone for the band, who are set to embark on an exciting new venture with the renowned global label.
To kick off their collaboration, Imago will release their much-anticipated new single, “Gulong-Gulo” on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 12:00 AM (midnight).
The dreamy track is a sonic exploration of love’s complexities, blending lush textures with crystalline guitar tones and subtle drumming. Lyrically, “Gulong-Gulo” explores the emotional tug-of-war in choosing to fight for a relationship rather than letting it fade instantly. The band admits, “It’s more of a reflection of how a relationship can be. There will always be highs and lows, and it’s about knowing that your relationship is bigger than the occasional fights, so you fix it.”
Produced by Raymund Marasigan and Buddy Zabala, the track also features an arrangement by Zabala, with contributions from Badjao de Castro of IV of Spades, who adds a fresh and distinct approach to drumming. The understated groove and remarkable sophistication in the rhythm section perfectly complement the band’s musical evolution, offering a richer listening experience for the streaming audience.
Imago is composed of Kharren “Kurei” Granada (vocals), Myrene “Maps” Academia (bass), Tim Cacho (guitar), and Mervin Panganiban (drums). For more than two decades, the pop-rock quartet has solidified their presence as one of the most influential bands for the last two decades—thanks to their uncompromised versatility and top-notch musicality. Their debut album, Probably Not But Most Definitely was regarded by critics as a game-changing release for merging alternative rock with ethnic, world, and Celtic music influences.
The follow-up albums, Take 2 and Blushyielded more hits for the band, including chart-topping songs “Akap,” “Anino,” “Taralets,” and “Sundo.” With lineup changes and an ever-evolving sound, the band has managed to maintain their legacy with music releases that showcase emotional vulnerability and depth. Imago is currently working on their forthcoming EP, which will be released soon.
Imago’s “Gulong-Gulo” will be available for streaming on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment. Pre-save here.
Manila, Philippines (January 17, 2025) — HUAWEI has officially launched the HUAWEI Mate X6. The newest flagship foldable phone from HUAWEI represents the pinnacle of foldable technology with AI-powered photography, offering users advanced features to meet the demands of their fast-paced lifestyles. The HUAWEI Mate X6 is available for pre-order beginning January 17, 2025 until January 30, 2025.
HUAWEI has been at the forefront of foldable innovation, having worked on this technology long before the launch of the HUAWEI Mate X in 2019. Since then, the leading tech brand has consistently pushed the boundaries with new and diverse foldable designs, including the pocket-sized fold, the dual fold, and the groundbreaking HUAWEI Mate XT Triple Fold, which is the first of its kind. HUAWEI’s innovation goes beyond just form factors, tackling numerous technical challenges to ensure top-tier performance, all while maintaining slim, lightweight designs. This allows HUAWEI foldables to deliver an exceptional large-screen experience, setting the standard for the industry and challenging typical bar phones for convenience and performance.
HUAWEI Foldable: Reliability from the Inside Out
Today’s digital landscape demands reliability in smartphones. HUAWEI Mate X6 is designed to be reliable from the inside out, thanks to innovative engineering and materials that make it incredibly durable and dependable. These ensure that the HUAWEI Mate X6 handles both the bumps of daily life and the demands of advanced technology.
1. Exterior Screen with 2nd Gen KUNLUN Glass, 25 Times More Drop-Resistant
The HUAWEI Mate X6’s exterior screen is protected by 2nd Generation KUNLUN Glass, a game-changing innovation that significantly improves the phone’s durability. Unlike traditional glass, this next-generation material has a stronger glass network structure that prevents the screen from deforming or cracking under external pressure. This allows the HUAWEI Mate X6’s exterior screen to be up to 25 times more drop-resistant, so users can confidently use the phone daily without worrying about accidental drops.
2. Interior Screen with Carbon Fiber Inner Screen Plate for Superior Strength
The HUAWEI Mate X6 elevates durability with its advanced composite laminated structure, which features a carbon fiber inner screen plate that significantly boosts the screen’s strength. Renowned for its exceptional toughness, carbon fiber reinforces the HUAWEI Mate X6 with a support layer boasting a deformation resistance of 380 GPa — 65% stiffer than the materials commonly used in smartphones. Remarkably, even a thin section of this material can lift a 150kg motorcycle. This innovative design ensures the inner screen is protected from the stress and pressure of frequent folding and unfolding, maintaining its integrity over time.
3. Aviation-Grade Aluminum Middle Frame to Survive Violent Collision Test Unscathed
The HUAWEI Mate X6 features an aviation-grade aluminum middle frame, which plays a crucial role in the phone’s durability. This high-strength material protects the device from impact during accidental drops, keeping the phone intact. Aviation-grade aluminum is stronger than standard aluminum and offers enhanced resistance to bending and compression. In a violent collision test, the HUAWEI Mate X6 withstood the impact without any noticeable damage, proving its exceptional resilience and reinforcing its reputation for durability.
4. Advanced Multi-Dimensional Hinge with 1900MPa Ultra-High Strength Steel
A key feature of any foldable phone is the hinge, and HUAWEI’s advanced multi-dimensional hinge in the HUAWEI Mate X6 sets a new standard for durability and performance. The hinge is made from 1900MPa ultra-high strength steel, increasing its strength and ensuring it can endure frequent opening and closing without weakening over time.
Efficient Cooling with Heat Source Separation and Innovative Materials
The HUAWEI Mate X6 uses an innovative cooling system that keeps the phone cool by separating heat sources, increasing heat dissipation for better performance. It features a smart heat dissipation design with graphene film and a 3D VC heat spreader to keep things running smoothly despite the phone’s heavy use. The phone also uses Ultra-High Thermal Conductivity Graphene, which is more efficient at transferring heat and helps to quickly cool down the phone while gaming or taking video calls.
HUAWEI Mate X6 also comes with a 2-meter IPX8 water resistance. This ensures the device stays safe, whether users caught in a downpour or splashing around at the pool.
Premium Design with Lightweight Durability
The HUAWEI Mate X6 sets a new benchmark for foldable smartphones with its sophisticated craftsmanship, durability, and camera technology. Designed with a Space-Age Orbit camera layout and an exclusive vegan fiber finish, it symbolises both futuristic elegance and practicality. The HUAWEI Mate X6 is incredibly thin and light, while exuding a premium look and feel. More than its sleek design, the HUAWEI Mate X6 is built with durable technology and maintains both elegance and toughness. Weighing just 239g and measuring only 9.85mm thick when folded, the phone combines the convenience of a regular phone with the strength and resilience of a foldable device. When unfolded, the phone is just 4.6mm thick. The rounded, soft quad-curve frame with smooth corners enhances its premium appearance while providing a comfortable grip.
Revolutionising Multi-Tasking and The Best Foldable Photography
With its 50MP Ultra Aperture Camera, 40MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and 48MP telephoto micro camera, the HUAWEI Mate X6 allows users to capture life’s moments effortlessly. Whether capturing wide landscapes during a hike or close-up shots at family gatherings, the camera system ensures every photo is stunning.
With Live Multi-Task, the HUAWEI Mate X6 enhances productivity by allowing users to run three applications simultaneously on the expansive unfolded display. Users on the go can be on a video call with colleagues, review a project presentation, and make notes all at once on the device’s expansive screen. Wherever users are, the HUAWEI Mate X6 seamlessly adapts to various multitasking needs, enhancing both work and leisure activities.

Peaceful Gemini, the acclaimed Filipina rapper and songwriter, returns with her latest single “Piece of Gem,” out today via Sony Music Entertainment. With this new track, the multi-talented artist takes another step in her music journey as she embraces the growth, resilience and clarity she’s gained along the way, while getting rid of deceitful energies that no longer serve her purpose.
Known for her authentic approach to storytelling, Peaceful Gemini reflects on her evolution as both an artist and an individual on her latest song, grounding her success in struggle and perseverance.
“It’s all about making moves—making a commitment to progression and growth,” shares the Warrior Princess herself. “This song allowed me to acknowledge the strength and resilience that was shaped by my origins, environment, and the challenges I’ve faced. It’s a reminder that wellness comes from a holistic perspective: tapping into ancestral guidance, trusting God’s divine timing, and embracing life’s natural cycle as we rise with the sun.”
The acclaimed Filipino emcee also reveals that fame and external validation don’t define her at all. With this song, she leans into the lightness and warmth of love, offering a rare, unfiltered glimpse into her artistry and philosophy.
“What matters to me is sharing my message to listeners who can resonate with it or feel recognized or represented by the music,” she adds.
“Piece of Gem” is written by Peaceful Gemini herself, and produced by Mesklun, whose work fuses the energy of boombap with contemporary hip-hop elements. Marked by a unique bounce and refined sensibility, Mesklun’s production style complements Peaceful Gemini’s effortless flow, resulting in a track that feels both suave and grounded.
“This track stands out because it diverges from the classic PG boom bap sound and flow,” says the acclaimed hip-hop artist. “It’s more refined, modern, and polished — an evolution of my artistry — and I absolutely love it.” Peaceful Gemini’s “Piece of Gem” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.

Five lucky TNT subscribers welcomed the new year filled with unforgettable ‘saya’ moments through their special meet-and-greet session with TNT katropas Kathryn Bernardo and Joshua Garcia, one of the many special prizes of the TNT Paskong Panalo promo.
Just by registering to their favorite TNT promos, Benjie Carpio of Pasig, Gelica Gemina of Quezon City, and Ophelia Dantes of Tarlac racked up raffle entries that paved the way for them to finally meet Kathryn and have a free-flowing conversation with her over lunch – much like katropas catching up with one another.
‘Napaka-humble and napakabait niya’
“Di ako makapaniwala na nasa harap ko si Kathryn! Sobrang na-appreciate ko po itong experience,” said Gelica, 34, a BPO employee and TNT subscriber for 14 years.
“Cloud 9 po talaga ang feeling. Di ko rin inexpect na sobrang friendly at sobrang wise ni Kathryn. Worth it po talaga yung puyat ko,” said 29-year-old Ophelia, who traveled to the venue straight from her graveyard shift.
“Kinabahan po ako at di talaga makapaniwala,” said 34-year old Benjamin, who sat directly across Kathryn throughout the entire session. “Napaka-humble at napakabait niya at sana hindi siya magbago.”
As a TNT katropa, Kathryn gamely talked about her career and personal life, and even shared life advice with the lucky subscribers during the intimate gathering.
‘Say words of affirmation as much as possible’
“Di kami lumaking expressive. Pero ngayon na may pamangkin na ako, we’re trying our best to say words of affirmation as much as possible. We learned that it’s important to say ‘I love you, thank you, and I’m sorry’ to children,” Kathryn said.
“Also, please don’t forget to take good care of yourself. Wag niyong pabayaan ang sarili niyo dahil marami kayong iniintindi,” she reminded the three subscribers.
‘Hindi ko po ito malilimutan’
On the other hand, two other lucky subscribers – 37-year-old Najer Basser of Iloilo City and 30-year-old Roselyn Ricorte of Pagadian City – went on to meet and exchange life stories with Joshua.
“Akala ko po talaga ay scam lang to nung una, kaya sobrang saya ko po nung nakita ko si Joshua. Maraming salamat po sa TNT, hindi ko po ito malilimutan,” said Roselyn, who left her small sari-sari store for a day just to fly into Manila and meet Joshua.
“TNT lang po talaga ang load na binebenta ko sa may amin sa Pagadian kasi yun po ang malakas ang signal,” she said.
“Yung pamilya ko naman, gustong makipagpalit sa akin para ma-meet si Joshua! Nagpapasalamat ako sa TNT kasi ‘di ko inexpect na mangyayari ito,” shared Najer, who makes a living selling slippers and sandals at a public market.
‘Maging mabuti at magtrabaho nang marangal’
“I-video call natin sila para maniwala sila,” Joshua urged the Roselyn and Najer, and then chatted with their families, sending them into a frenzy.
“Maraming salamat po dahil bumyahe pa po kayo nang malayo just to spend time with me. I really appreciate your time,” said Joshua, who also shared about his experiences as a Batangueño being new to the city.
“Na-overwhelm ako noon sa mga building at sa dami ng pwedeng gawin dito. Pero ngayon, mas na-appreciate ko na yung katahimikan sa probinsiya,” he said.
Asked for life advice to share with the two subscribers, Joshua said: “Siguro pareho lang sa payo sa akin ng tito kong pari – maging mabuti at magtrabaho nang marangal at walang tinatapakang ibang tao.”
“Naniniwala rin po ako na darating ang success pag nagsusumikap at kumikilos tayo,” he added.
Watch out for more ‘saya’ moments from TNT
Aside from these unforgettable moments with Kathryn and Joshua, the recently concluded TNT Paskong Panalo promo also brought ‘saya’ to 5 lucky grand winners from North and Central Luzon, NCR, South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, who each won a life-changing prize of P1 million cash.
Now gearing up for its 25th anniversary, TNT is set to bring more saya to katropas nationwide through more value-packed data offers, more exciting promos, and more unforgettable experiences – backed by its superior mobile network.
Rising singer-songwriter dwta links up with SB19’s justin for a striking new collaboration, “Sampung Mga Daliri,” a folk-pop lullaby that captures the degradation of a love that was once formidable and promising.
Released under Sony Music Entertainment, the track reimagines the classic Filipino nursery rhyme into a poignant tale of doomed romance, with no way to save it.
“Sampung Mga Daliri” deals with the heartbreaking realization that love is no longer enough to make two people stay together. The song eloquently shows how the simple act of holding hands loses its meaning when there’s no one left to hold.
According to dwta, “Sampung Mga Daliri” was an unfinished track that she was working on in 2023. An opportunity to revisit the draft came in when she met justin in a gig at Cozy Cove last year, prompting the idea of pitching a collaboration with him.
“I thought it was a long shot, but I asked my team if there was any chance we could work on something together,” says the award-winning Bicol-based act. “Even before it was confirmed, I was already looking through my notes, trying to find a song that would match both our voices or maybe even writing something new. That’s when I stumbled upon Sampung Mga Daliri. It felt like the song was calling me, so I picked up my guitar, rewrote it, and finally finished it. I actually gave them two other options, but Sampung Mga Daliri just felt right. It was the one.”
The collaboration came as a pleasant surprise to justin, who was immediately drawn to the song’s emotional depth. “Aside from being labelmates under Sony Music Philippines, when I heard Sampung Mga Daliri, it immediately felt like the right fit,” admits justin. “Out of all the songs sent to me, this one really stood out. It had something special.”
While their busy schedules prevented them from recording together in person, both dwta and justin worked closely throughout the creative process. The two attended online meetings, fine-tuned the song, and ensured that their connection came through in every note.
“After everything, we finally got to bond in person during shoots and trips, and that’s when I really got to know him,” shares dwta. “You know how famous people can sometimes feel intimidating or hard to approach? justin’s the total opposite. It’s like working with a sibling from a different parent. We just clicked, both musically and personally.”
Produced by dwta and frequent collaborator Brian Lotho, “Sampung Mga Daliri” draws inspiration from the haunting arrangements of The Paper Kites’ “Bloom,” but with a distinct twist that reflects both artists’ unique sound. The result is a stunning, emotionally honest song that explores brooding vulnerability, something dwta and justin had yet to explore in previous releases. The track allows them to push beyond their comfort zones, creating something fresh, evocative, and deeply moving.
As dwta puts it, “Since our styles are pretty similar and we share the same vision for the song, it was easy for us to agree on every idea we pitched. The whole process came together so smoothly. I’m really happy with how it turned out in such a short time.”
To introduce their new collaboration, dwta and justin recently debuted the unreleased song live at the 10th Wish Music Awards last January 19, 2025. Ahead of the release, both artists teased the song’s arrival, sharing snippets of “Sampung Mga Daliri” chorus on their respective social media channels on January 16 and 18. The teaser included a compelling single cover, where from a window, justin tries to reach for dwta’s hands, only for her to be reluctantly disengaged—an image that perfectly captures the song’s theme of love slipping through your fingers.
In addition, dwta has been releasing a series of live performances called “dwta series: Magka-Ibigan” that tie into the narrative of “Sampung Mga Daliri,” offering fans a deeper look into the song’s story before its official release. This heartfelt collaboration marks a new chapter for both artists, as they explore the delicate balance of love and loss through music.“Sampung Mga Daliri” is now available on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment. Watch the music video on dwta’s official YouTube channel at 8 pm. Stay tuned for the short-form miniseries featuring dwta and justin on the former’s YouTube and social media pages.
