Receiving the award for the team is Havas Ortega’s Special Projects Director Lea Nepomuceno
After a year of breaking new ground and hard-earned successes, the Havas Ortega Corporate Communications team, led by Chairman and CEO, Jos Ortega, Special Projects Director Iea Nepomuceno and Business Director for Havas PR, Charisse Vilchez, took home the Southeast Asia Corporate Communications Person/Team of the Year Award at Campaign’s Agency of the Year Awards Night last December 13, 2018 in Singapore.
The Southeast Asia Corporate Communications Person/ Team of the Year Award recognizes success in addressing issues related to management, corporate communications, reputation, brand-building, campaign execution, and media relations. The Havas Ortega Corporate Communications Team has earned the award through its highly relevant initiatives implemented in 2018 anchored on Thought Leadership. This has its significant role in raising Havas Ortega’s profile, contributing to the growth of the industry, and developing programs that facilitated great collaboration within the agency.

One of these initiatives is the Vital Healthcare Marketing Conference that was spearheaded by Havas Life, the agency’s marketing health sector. At said conference, 120 senior and mid-level marketing practitioners form the pharmaceutical industry attended and received coverage from the country’s largest news networks and publications. It was also an innovative way to launch a new agency service, creating momentum for the success of the operations of Havas Life.
Another one is a follow up to the success of the Filipino Millennial Codes in 2016 in which Havas Ortega widened the study and developed the Asia Pacific Millennial Codes. Gayia Beyer, Havas Ortega’s Director of Applied Anthropology conducted ethnographic studies in 11 cities and eight countries. This study, with its country-specific millennial codes, won 17 brand assignments in the Asia Pacific for the Havas Group. Through the Havas Ortega Corporate Communications Team, Millennial Codes expanded its application to other categories. The Team arranged for Havas CEO, Jos Ortega, to speak in eight public and corporate conferences in topics concerning millennials, ranging from human resources, education, to sales. The localized content of the Asia Pacific Millennial Codes also resulted in two award-winning documentaries produced with CNN.
“Emerging Shifts in Filipino Consumption Mindsets,” the localized version of the Havas Group Prosumer Report on “The Meaningful Shift,” featured Havas Ortega’s Head of Data and Analytics Philip Tiongson in an exclusive media roundtable with leading broadcast networks and publications. The prosumer report struck a chord and within a week of its roll-out, it generated US$390,000 in PR values.

The Corporate Communications Team was also a key member of the Culture and Talent Development/Management Team, the driver of collaboration and openness in the workplace. Through innovative and even fun programs — such as letting employees take over the company’s Instagram account, a system-wide collaboration day called “Havas Play,” monthly potlucks, and monthly socials called La Ledge Nights to celebrate team members’ birthdays. One of the most significant initiatives of the team was the Havas TALK Mental Health Awareness Program in partnership with In Touch Philippines. This program is helping its employees address the day-to-day challenges as they do agency work. The project has established a 24/7 hotline for all employees, orientation sessions, skill builder talks and subsidized private counseling sessions.
Winning the Southeast Asia Corporate Communications Person/Team of the Year was honorable recognition for all of Havas Ortega’s Corporate Communications Team’s significant contributions in advertising and brand communications industry in the region in just one year.

Clambering in and out of a Jeep isn’t easy for everybody. If you have children or elderly family members who ride in your Jeep, they might need some extra help getting in and out of the vehicle safely. Installing retractable truck steps can be a good way to make your Jeep more accessible and more fun to ride in for the whole family.
The Benefits of Retractable Steps
Retractable steps and running boards serve a similar purpose: they give passengers an easy way to step up into your vehicle. But the two aren’t interchangeable, so its important to consider which is best for your situation.
Retractable truck steps are usually adjustable in terms of height. This is a useful benefit if you have small children who need a step that’s closer to the ground. Its also helpful if your Jeep has a lifted suspension or especially tall truck tires. Most retractable steps can be removed without damaging your vehicle, and they are typically less expensive than running boards.
Running boards are another type of accessory that give you a step up into your vehicle. These long, narrow bars are installed on either side of your Jeep. Most of the time, you can’t adjust these boards to be closer to or farther from the ground. However, the retractable variety folds underneath your vehicle when the doors are closed, which prevents them from catching on obstacles. Running boards can usually bear more weight than truck steps, making them a good option if only adults ride in your Jeep.
Find the Truck Accessories You Need
From retractable steps to Bilstein 5100 shocks, the accessories you buy for your Jeep affect the way your vehicle performs for your family. Get in touch today to find out how the right truck gear can make your ride smoother, more family-friendly and more fun.

Romblon Island, Philippines–January 2, 2019, — Striving to realize a sustainable society, Honda Motor Co. Ltd., developed the Mobile Power Pack which can charge renewable energy as power source for electric devices that are necessary for people’s daily lives, including electric mobility products. Honda is expanding its efforts toward the realization of “local generation and local consumption of energy” and a “carbon-free society” by combining technologies to “generate”, “get connected” and “use” for energy.
Last 2017, Honda has conducted the demonstration testing of the Mobile Power Pack in Asia, and in the Philippines is Romblon Island, located in the Southern Tagalog region, particularly near the islands of Mindoro, Marinduque, and Palawan. In Romblon, diesel power generation is the primary source of energy while it is therefore overly dependent on high-cost and high-CO2 energy. Aside from the fact that Romblon is also facing a challenge in ensuring stable power supply while accommodating electricity needs with large fluctuations in day-night demand.
For this demonstration testing, Komaihaltec which jointly conducted this testing with Honda, installed a wind power generator that generates clean energy. Honda installed an Exchanger where surplus electricity will be stored in the Mobile Power Packs to realize highly-efficient energy use, through which the two companies will strive to realize a reduction in CO2 emissions.
Soon in Romblon, Honda will utilize PCX ELECTRIC as an electric mobility product which can be installed with the Mobile Power Pack to collaborate with wind power generator as renewable energy source in the island.
The PCX ELECTRIC is an electric motorized scooter. Two Mobile Power Pack units enable the PCX ELECTRIC to travel up to 41km (60km/h steady state test) on a single charge. It maintains the PCX series’ easy-to-handle size and comfortable riding position to realize comfortable and elegant riding. It also maintains the advanced features such as the stylish All-LED lights, and Honda SMART Key System which allows the rider to unlock the main switch knob by simply approaching the scooter without removing the smart key from their garment.
Honda looks forward to the continuous innovation of its products to contribute to the creation of a sustainable and carbon-free environment.

The QBO team, J.P. Morgan representatives, and corporate investors (standing) shared their positive outlook for the presenting startups (seated) and hope that they are ready for the challenges that comes with scaling up.
MANILA, Philippines – Business leaders have found key learnings from the local startup industry on how to pivot as technologies and demands evolve continuously.
At the INQBATION Startup Showcase arranged by QBO Innovation Hub (QBO) and hosted by J.P. Morgan at their BGC Taguig office, six high performing local startups presented their business models and plans on how to scale up their operations to corporate partners J.P. Morgan, Smart, PLDT, investors, and other startup stakeholders.
The first three startups that presented were representatives of fellow startup enablers, namely Magpie, Innovantage, and Taxumo, while the last three startups are currently under QBO and J.P. Morgan’s Incubation Program, in which the most promising, innovative and scalable ventures are given the opportunity to develop impactful programs while experiencing dedicated mentorship from some of the country’s top executives.
The incubatees who participated in the showcase presented their business models and growth plans. Said startups are AdMov, an advertising platform that uses location data with facial recognition to generate and deliver personalized content and advertising; Cropital, a crowdfunding platform connecting anyone to help finance our farmers; and Pushkart.ph, an online grocery delivery service.
The INQBATION Startup Showcase also featured an exhibit and business matching area where other startup incubatees and ecosystem stakeholders were able to display their businesses. This includes fellow startup enabler, Launchgarage and other QBO incubatees, namely Exora, an online bidding platform that lets businesses connect with retail electricity suppliers; Senti, a social media monitoring platform that analyzes content including local dialects and colloquial language; MAD Travel, a tourism platform that provides alternative and meaningful experiences to marginalized communities; and OneWatt, a non-invasive predictive motor health monitoring system.
QBO President, Butch Meily passionately shared how important it is that the private and public-sector support startups.
“The economic multiplier effect of startups is indisputable. The largest companies in the world today like Google and Facebook are companies we never heard of a few years ago. With just a relatively small investment, we have created a whole new sector of the economy – one that will foster thousands of jobs. We have created this platform to not only to help promising startups grow but to also aide them as the industries they operate in begin to shift. We will teach them how to survive.”
Companies like J.P. Morgan also acknowledge the potential and impact of tech startups and are invested in helping them scale up.
“The startup industry in the Philippines, while young, shows potential to shape industries of the future. We remain committed to supporting local entrepreneurs as they become engines of job growth and economic vitality across the communities they serve,” said J.P. Morgan’s Managing Director and Senior Country Officer, Roberto L. Panlilio.
The J.P. Morgan Incubation program prioritizes startups who are from or cater to underserved communities. They are exposed to curated workshops, have access to professional services from government agencies, the Philippine Stock Exchange, and major investors, and receive assistance to exiting. The founders are also connected to local and international mentors who are either investors, executives, or successful startup founders.
