The Petron BPI Mastercard helps motorists enjoy fuel rebates and convenient cashless payments every time they gas up at Petron stations nationwide.
The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) helps motorists save on fuel costs with the Petron BPI Mastercard, which offers fuel rebates every time cardholders gas up at participating Petron stations—delivering instant value and smarter everyday spending.
With the Petron BPI Mastercard, cardholders can enjoy 3% fuel rebates at Petron stations nationwide, allowing drivers to get more value from their regular fuel purchases. Cardholders can earn up to ₱15,000 in fuel rebates annually, helping reduce the impact of rising fuel expenses over time.
New cardholders can also receive a ₱200 Petron fuel voucher upon approval, giving them an immediate boost toward their next fuel stop. On top of rebates, the Petron BPI Mastercard also offers flexible payment features that allow customers to better manage their finances. Cardholders can convert purchases into installments, access cash when needed, and enjoy the reliability and security of using a BPI credit card for their everyday transactions.
“Fuel remains an essential expense for many Filipinos, especially for those who rely on their vehicles for work, business, and family needs,” said Alma Aldip, Head of Unsecured Lending and Cards Sales at BPI. “Through the Petron BPI Mastercard, we want to help our clients get more value from their everyday fuel purchases while giving them the flexibility and convenience they need to better manage their finances.”
As mobility continues to play an important role in everyday life, practical financial tools such as the Petron BPI Mastercard can help motorists stay on the road while keeping fuel costs more manageable. On the road to its 175th year of serving Filipinos, BPI continues to provide financial solutions that help customers better manage everyday expenses.
At this point, checking prices before buying anything is already a must. One minute you’re grabbing your usual coffee, the next you’re doing mental math like, “Wait… has this always been this expensive?”Between rising gas prices, pricier groceries, and everything in between, it’s getting harder to pretend your budget hasn’t changed.
Now more than ever, it helps to be more intentional with how your money moves—because even small shifts can add up over time.
Here’s what that can look like:
Know your “default gastos”
Everyone has a baseline: your usual transport, food, subscriptions. The tricky part is these are also the ones that quietly go up. Taking a closer look at your weekly spend makes it easier to spot where your money is actually going, and where small adjustments can make a difference.
From there, it’s not just about cutting back, but spending smarter. Using tools that give something back like cashback or fuel discounts can help offset rising costs without needing to sacrifice as much.
For example for fuel expenses, using your Maya Debit Card can get you 5% cashback[1] with a minimum spend of ₱500, capped at ₱300, a small but practical way to ease rising gas costs.
If you’re using the Landers Cashback Everywhere Credit Card, you can earn 1% cashback at Landers Caltex branches, plus up to 5% cashback at Landers Superstore, 2% on dining, and 1% on other transactions.
Even your regular purchases can stretch a little further. With the Maya Black Credit Card, your accumulated Maya Miles can unlock up to ₱1,500 worth of Pricelocq fuel vouchers in the app’s ‘Rewards’ catalogue, an easy way to turn routine spending into something more useful.
Because when it comes to rising prices, the goal isn’t just to spend less, it’s to make every peso go a little further.
If your money’s just sitting there, you’re losing a bit of it
With prices rising, idle money doesn’t stretch as far. That’s why more people are keeping their savings somewhere it can earn in the background, so even when you’re not actively saving more, your money is still doing something. With Maya, the country’s #1 Digital Bank and leading all-in-one fintech platform, you can earn up to 15% interest p.a. on your savings, just by using Maya for your everyday purchases.
Have a “just in case” fund, even a small one
Unexpected gastos hit harder now. A slightly higher grocery bill or a sudden fuel hike can throw things off. Setting aside a small buffer gives you a bit of breathing room.
For short-term needs, having access to something like Maya Easy Credit[2] can help you stay on track without dipping into your savings. It offers a revolving credit line of up to ₱50,000, payable in up to 30 days, helping bridge temporary cash flow gaps while giving you clear visibility into your repayment.
Use extra funds strategically
When you do have extra money, even small amounts, it helps to give it a clear purpose instead of letting it sit or disappear into everyday spending. Some are setting aside funds into goal-based savings, like Maya Personal Goals, where you can create up to five savings targets for things like emergencies, travel, or future plans. Each goal earns 4% interest per annum, with rates increasing the more you save, reaching up to 8% p.a. as you build your balance.
For those who prefer a more structured approach, options like Time Deposit Plus offer a way to lock in funds for a set period—whether 3, 6, or 12 months—earning up to 6% p.a. while keeping your savings untouched. With multiple accounts available, it’s a way to stay disciplined while steadily growing your money in the background.
Most of the time, it’s small tweaks like being more aware of your spending, letting your savings earn quietly in the background, and making smarter choices with everyday expenses, that make things feel more manageable.
At a time when everything feels like it’s getting more expensive, being a “smart saver” isn’t about doing less, it’s about being more aware of your finances. And with the right tools working quietly in the background, it becomes a lot easier to stay on track without overhauling your entire life.

The country’s leading finance app and largest cashless ecosystem, GCash, is reminding users to stay vigilant and take simple yet meaningful steps to protect themselves from scams and fraud this Holy Week.
As more users go online, GCash encourages everyone to remain vigilant—particularly against scams that take advantage of vulnerable users, as well as government subsidy payouts, such as the fuel subsidy program of LTFRB and the DSWD.
GCash shares simple steps to help users stay #GSafeTayo:
Be aware of fake fuel vouchers from “DSWD” or any government agency
Scammers exploit any crisis with spoofing and phishing scams. For instance, users may receive text messages that appear to come from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), asking them to claim an “e-fuel voucher” by clicking a link that leads to a phishing website. The DSWD has confirmed these are scams. They will never distribute assistance through unsolicited texts containing clickable links.
2. Watch out for spoofed messages and suspicious links
Never click links sent via SMS or third-party messaging apps. Scams can arrive via SMS, email, or chat apps. Be wary of “phishing” traps, such as “free” offers.
3. Avoid connecting to unsecured public Wi-Fi networks
Increasingly sophisticated tactics are compromising even the most vigilant users. Malicious hotspots in high-traffic areas like airports can silently intercept sensitive data; therefore, refrain from accessing financial accounts or entering credentials while on public connections.
4. Be alert against fake pages and impersonators
Some spoofing attempts come from fake GCash Facebook pages or Messenger accounts designed to look real. Check for the verified blue checkmark and report suspicious accounts. The only official page is GCash Official.
Follow additional safety practices
Ignore unexpected calls or meeting invites about account or ID verification. If pressured to act fast, hang up or decline immediately.
Never share your OTP, MPIN, passwords, or screen during logins or transactions.
Do not download apps from links sent by email or text: use the official Apple App Store, Google Play, or Huawei AppGallery.
Report suspicious activity and stay informed
GCash users can report suspected scams through the GCash Help Center at help.gcash.com by chatting with Gigi and selecting “I want to report a scam”, or by calling the official GCash hotline at 2882.
Users may also report incidents to the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group at (02) 8414-1560 / 0998-598-8116 or acg@pnp.gov.ph, and to the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) via hotline 1326, mobile 0991-481-4225, or report@cicc.gov.ph.
GCash actively monitors and blocks suspicious activity, takes down reported scam links and accounts, and works closely with law enforcement and government agencies to protect the public.
The GCash app is available for free on Google Play Store, Apple App Store, or Huawei App Gallery. For safety reminders and updates, visit the official Facebook page at GCash Official.
GCash reminds the public that online safety remains a shared responsibility. Enjoy the break, and stay alert to have a peaceful and a #GSafeTayo Holy Week.
Prudence Foundation and UNICEF Philippines launched their partnership through the REACH programme to help protect children and communities from climate-related health risks.

Calvin Kohchet-Chua, Chief Legal, Government Relations, and Sustainability Officer, Pru Life UK; and Ai Yoon Soo, Senior Manager for Climate and Health Resilience, Prudence Foundation.
Taguig City, Philippines, 31 March 2026 – Prudence Foundation, the community investment arm of Prudential plc, and UNICEF Philippines have launched a new partnership to help protect children and communities in the Philippines from the growing health impacts of climate change.
Through the REACH programme, the collaboration aims to strengthen health and social protection systems so they can better respond to climate-related risks such as extreme heat and air pollution that disproportionately affect children.
REACH, which stands for Resilience, Environment, and Child Health – Strengthening Health and Social Protection Systems in the Philippines, will support efforts to develop climate-adaptive primary health care systems, strengthen preparedness and response to heat stress and air pollution, and enhance shock-responsive social protection mechanisms for vulnerable families.
The programme will be implemented by UNICEF Philippines in partnership with the Department of Health, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Climate Change Commission, and local government units in Metro Manila and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
With support from Prudence Foundation, the community investment arm of Prudential plc, and Pru Life UK, the programme highlights the importance of strengthening resilience for children and communities faced with increasing frequency and intensity of climate risks.
“As the community investment arm of Prudential plc, Prudence Foundation focuses on building climate and health resilience through long‑term, collaborative solutions. Our partnership with UNICEF Philippines under the REACH programme reflects this commitment, supporting stronger health and social protection systems to better protect children from climate‑related health risks,” said Nicole Ngeow, Executive Director of Prudence Foundation.
Sanjay Chakrabarty, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pru Life UK, said:
“Climate change is increasingly affecting the health and wellbeing of children and communities across the Philippines. Through the REACH programme, we are supporting efforts to strengthen systems that protect children from climate-related health risks such as extreme heat and air pollution. By working with UNICEF and government partners, we hope to help build stronger and more resilient health and social protection systems that can better safeguard children today, and in the future,” added Chakrabarty.
Kyungsun Kim, UNICEF Representative to the Philippines, highlighted the partnership’s significance in addressing the stakes for children:
“For children whose bodies are still growing, climate change can quickly become a health emergency. Protecting them requires climate‑adaptive, shock‑responsive systems, and strong partnerships. Through REACH, our work with the Prudence Foundation shows how government, civil society, young people, and the private sector can deliver solutions where they matter most. UNICEF mobilises private sector partners as advocates for child rights and responsible business, helping build a more resilient future for every child in the Philippines.”
Children are particularly vulnerable to environmental and climate-related health risks due to their unique needs and reliance on healthcare systems, clean air, and safe environments. Strengthening these systems will help ensure that communities are better prepared to respond to climate-related shocks and protect children’s health and wellbeing.

Three major malls in North Metro Manila joined the global observance of Earth Hour on March 28, switching off non-essential lights and hosting activities that drew communities into a shared call for environmental action.
At SM City Grand Central, the annual lights-off moment transformed into a Neon Dance Party, where shoppers gathered in dimmed spaces and took part in a high-energy celebration that underscored collective action for the planet.
In SM City Valenzuela, visitors participated in a bottle painting workshop, turning used containers into decorative pieces. The activity highlighted simple and creative ways to promote sustainability while engaging mallgoers of all ages.
SM Center Sangandaan also took part in the synchronized switch-off, joining millions worldwide in the symbolic gesture that has become a yearly reminder of environmental responsibility.
Beyond the lights-off hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the malls encouraged eco-friendly habits through green retail offerings, recycling drives, and eco activities such as arts sessions.
Observed in cities across the globe, Earth Hour continues to serve as a platform for communities and businesses to participate in small but meaningful steps toward sustainability.
Pollstar, a prominent trade publication for the concert and live music industry, has announced its 2026 Women of Live list, celebrating influential professionals and visionaries worldwide. Among this year’s lone Asian honoree is Weining Hung, Founder and Director of 9 Kick—a Taipei-based management and booking agency responsible for playing a crucial role in connecting Asian indie artists with international audiences. Hun
g is widely recognized for her work as co-founder of LUCfest, Taiwan’s premier showcase festival and conference. Launched in 2017, LUCfest became a vital meeting point for international industry professionals and Asian talents. As the festival enters its next phase of growth, LUCfest is currently exploring strategic cooperation and new partnerships to carry its legacy in ensuring its continued impact on the global stage.
Hung has recently pivoted het focus toward “deliberate career architecture” through her agency 9 Kick. “Last year has been less about scale and more about precision,” Hung told Pollstar. “Judgement is the real scarce resource.” Her current work with artists such as Phum Viphurit, ADOY, and WIM exemplifies this philosophy: building durable touring foundations rather than chasing temporary spikes is the key for longevity. As the only awardee from the Asian region at the honoree dinner in Los Angeles,
Hung joined executives from global giants such as Live Nation, WME, and AEG. Her career trajectory, from building a trusted industry platform to refining the international paths of top Asian talent, positions her as a key link between the burgeoning Asian music ecosystem and the Western mainstream market.
“It’s an honor to see the work we are doing in Asia recognized on the other side of the world,” said Hung. “Whether it was building LUCfest into a trusted platform or now focusing on long-term artist careers with 9 Kick, the goal has always been to ensure Asian talent has a durable seat at the global table. I’m excited to keep building these bridges and to see even more Asian faces in these conversations in the years to come.”
About 9 Kick 9 Kick is a premier artist management and booking agency specializing in navigating the complexities of the global live music market for Asian talent. P-Pop trailblazers SB19 has officially dropped Wakas at Simula—a 24-track release that serves as a closure of their formative era in music and the beginning of a new imperial phase. Their second full-length album chronicles their path to self-discovery, identity building, and the cultivation of public trust, all fortified through years of experience and learning.
“At the same time, this marks a new beginning,” SB19 adds. “We hope to express ourselves more openly, explore deeper and more relatable themes, and move forward with clarity, care, and creative freedom, ready to face new challenges together.”
Wakas at Simula stands as a cohesive anthology, weaving together key selections from the group’s trilogy of acclaimed EPs (Pagsibol, Pagtatag, and Simula at Wakas), alongside six new tracks that showcase a reinvigorated approach in production and songwriting. The result is a future-forward pop record that embraces genre fluidity and maximalism, made more compelling by SB19’s unmistakable energy and charisma.
Pablo, SB19’s leader and chief producer, emphasizes the intention behind the album’s sonic direction, putting into consideration the history behind these songs. “We did not want to simply remake them; we aimed to reintroduce them with greater depth. We explored more mature arrangements, stronger dynamics, and a careful balance of raw emotion and refinement. Sonically, I focused on warmth, atmosphere, and storytelling, ensuring that every choice reflected who we are today. This approach allowed the music to honor its origins while also showcasing our growth as artists.”
SB19’s sophomore album also features international collaborations with some of the pop greats this side of the hemisphere. Queen of C-Pop JOLIN is prominently featured in “Emoji,” a euphoric club anthem with a little bit of Brazilian funk thrown in the mix.
SB19’s Ken, who co-produced the track with PLAYERTWO’s Luke April, offered an insight into its creation. “I thought this was a fresh and exciting sound for us, so I created a Brazilian phonk inspired track with the help of my friend Luke. Pablo, JOLIN, and I wrote the lyrics together. The song explores social media and how people often mask their true emotions behind emojis. It reflects on the contrast between online personas and genuine feelings, highlighting the subtle ways technology shapes human expression.”
The release of “Emoji’ will be accompanied by a music video set in what looks like two versions of an underground dungeon. SB19’s Justin explains, “The direction for the music video was to keep it simple and accessible while maintaining high quality and showcasing an impressive performance. Our creative director carefully ensured that the set designs and overall concept subtly reinforced the song’s message. The video features two distinct layouts: one glamorous and polished, the other messy and chaotic, representing the contrast between the idealized image people present online and the reality they often hide behind emojis.”
Another highlight of the album is a collaboration with Japanese pop group BE:FIRST, who joined SB19 on the floor-thumping jam “Toyfriend.” Other new songs in the album include the catchy R&B tune “Memories,” the sonically daring but refreshing “Everblack,” and the emotional ballad “Wakas,” which showcases SB19’s extraordinary vocal abilities and heartfelt delivery.
The award-winning P-Pop boyband also reworked the songs from their 2021 EP, Pagsibol, incorporating new arrangements with layers of nuance and artistic growth. With more experience and perspective, SB19 admits that the new versions offer a more refined direction, with emotions naturally running deeper and the lyrics carrying greater meaning.
“For us, it was about respect and progression,” Pablo explains. “We wanted the songs people already love to retain their emotional core, while the newer tracks pushed the album forward. Nostalgia gave the project its roots, and the new songs gave it momentum. The goal was to make the album feel familiar while still showing growth and evolution.”
Ahead of the release, SB19 revealed the official track list for Wakas at Simula during a press conference on March 23, 2026, which was simultaneously streamed live on Weverse. The video has amassed more than 300,000 views and 30 million likes within 24 hours, cementing their popularity on the global fandom platform.
The P-Pop powerhouse is also scheduled to perform in two of most prominent music festivals in the world: Lollapalooza in Grant Park, Chicago, Illinois, which will run from July 30 to August 2, 2026, and the recently announced Summer Sonic in Tokyo, Japan, happening on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
SB19’s “Wakas at Simula” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment. Watch out for the music video release of “Emoji” (Feat. JOLIN) today at 7:00 PM via SB19’s official YouTube page.
