As the southwest monsoon continues to impact the country, Lalamove, the leading on-demand delivery platform, is taking a proactive approach to provide logistics assistance in delivering relief goods to affected Filipinos in Metro Manila, Central and North Luzon.
Lalamove is working closely with government agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) by providing multiple trucks to reach various evacuation centers and barangays.
Lalamove provided trucks to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to assist in transporting 70,000 family food packs, which will be distributed to the affected communities of Pampanga, Zambales, and Bataan.
Meanwhile, Angat Buhay also received truck assistance to deliver 7,000 liters of clean drinking water to be distributed in evacuation centers in different barangays in Metro Manila.
Lalamove also assisted relief programs spearheaded by media outlets like DZRH to help deliver hot meals to evacuation centers in Valenzuela and Marikina, as well as Punto Central Luzon, which helped deliver relief goods and clothes to about 100 flooded farmers in Nueva Ecija.
Additionally, Lalamove provided trucks to Eat Bulaga to help them deliver sacks of rice to the affected barangays in the CAMANAVA areas, Marikina, and Bulacan.
Djon Nacario, Managing Director of Lalamove Philippines, highlighted the importance of being proactive in reaching out to stakeholders to assist in relief operations during the typhoon or habagat season.
“As a delivery platform, we are committed to going beyond our responsibility and being at the forefront of providing logistics assistance to many NGOs and government agencies, to help them deliver donations and relief assistance to communities not just in Metro Manila but also in affected areas of Bulacan, Pampanga, and Nueva Ecija,” he stated.
“With this initiative, we aim to help affected Filipino communities recover safely by helping move things that matter to them,” he added. “Our doors are open for those who need logistics assistance to execute their relief efforts.”

The EastWest Dream Run 2025 brought people together around a shared purpose. It showed that when we support one another, even a short race can leave a long-lasting impact.
In celebration of its 30th anniversary and Filinvest Group’s 70th year, the Bank hosted this year’s Dream Run across three key cities: Davao, Cebu, and Manila, drawing over 13,000 runners from different walks of life in a collective push for positive impact.
Each run had its own rhythm. Each city brought its own energy. But the heart behind them was the same: to move not just for health, but for hope.
Portions of the proceeds were donated to local organizations that continue to serve and uplift Filipino youth: Young Focus Philippines in Manila, Asian Hospital Charities, SOS Children’s Village in Cebu, and Padre Pio’s Home for Children in Davao.
In Davao: Showing Up for Padre Pio’s Home for Children
The series kicked off on April 6 where nearly 4,000 runners joined the first leg of the EastWest Dream Run. But behind the scenes, it was the children of Padre Pio’s Home for Children who stood to benefit most.
After the series, members of the EastWest Manila and Davao teams visited the home, bringing with them not just the donation proceeds, but time, encouragement, and listening ears. The visit became a quiet but powerful moment of connection.
“It was a reminder that showing up matters. That sometimes, all it takes to change a life is to be there, to listen, to share, to care,” says Sr. Floravy E. Raya RSW – Executive Director, Padre Pio Home for Children.
Kids of Padre Pio’s Home for Children were visited by Mike Nacional, Head, Mindanao Region, Rosie Acuña, Division 25 Head, Rayne Loreto, Senior Manager for Brand Activations, and the rest of the team members from Manila and Davao who organized the EastWest Dream Run.
In Cebu: Connecting With the Children of SOS Village
The next leg of the EastWest Dream Run was held on May 4 at City di Mare by Filinvest in Cebu, drawing over 3,000 runners from across the Visayas. For many participants, it was EastWest’s first large-scale wellness run in the region, and one that carried a significance linking the Bank to its Cebuano roots.
After the 3-leg series, the EastWest team visited SOS Children’s Village Cebu. It’s an organization that gives long-term family-based care to children who have lost or are at risk of losing parental care. The donation will go toward the Village’s daily operations, including food, schooling, health support, and maintaining nurturing homes for the children.
Mario Victor Baang, Village Director of SOS Children’s Village Cebu commented, “The visit meant a lot to the children. It was the time, the conversations, and the genuine care they felt. For many of them, that kind of attention stays with you.”
The day was made even more special thanks to the invaluable support of Ms. Jovi Abad, VisMin Consumer Loans Head, Ms. Debbie Realiza-Dy, Priority Center Head, and the rest of the EastWest Manila and Cebu teams.
In Manila: First-Time Runners with Big Dreams
The biggest and final leg of the Dream Run took place on June 15 at the Filinvest Event Grounds in Alabang, where over 6,000 runners turned up. After the race, a short program was held where EastWest turned over donations to two partner organizations: Young Focus Philippines and Asian Hospital Charities. The funds will support ongoing efforts in education, youth development, values formation, and access to medical care.
“Watching our students run with such heart reminded us what Young Focus is all about. They were showing the world what’s possible when kids are given a real chance,” shared Ms. Grace Palanca, representative from Young Focus Philippines.
The EastWest Dream Run marked a meaningful step in reaching more individuals in need of healing. Asian Hospital Charities expressed appreciation for being part of the event and noted that the proceeds will help sustain its efforts to provide essential medical support to patients who may not otherwise have access to care.

With thousands of finishers and countless stories of hope, the EastWest Dream Run 2025 closed its last leg not with an ending, but with momentum, for more cities, more children, and more lives made brighter through a shared purpose.
BPI employees use the Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) to recycle clean PET bottles and aluminum cans. By doing so, they earn BPI Rewards Points redeemable via the VYBE by BPI app.
As part of its commitment to sustainability, the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) became the first bank in the country to install a reverse vending machine (RVM) in the workplace—reinforcing its dedication to environmental responsibility and its drive to integrate sustainable practices into everyday operations.
The RVM is the main tool for BPI’s “Turn Waste into Points” program, which rewards employees and guests for recycling plastic and aluminum waste, encouraging active participation in the bank’s sustainability initiative.
Located at The Fifth in BPI Buendia Center (BBC), Makati City, the RVM accepts clean, empty PET bottles and aluminum cans (with labels intact). In return, employees and guests earn BPI Rewards Points which can be tracked and redeemed for vouchers through the VYBE by BPI app.
“This initiative is a reflection of how we walk the talk when it comes to sustainability,” said Cathy Santamaria, BPI Chief Customer and Marketing Officer. “We are encouraging every BPI employee and guest to make recycling a habit—by making it simple, convenient, and rewarding.”
The RVM, supplied by SpurwayEnterprises, helps users recycle while supporting BPI’s waste management program. The collected recyclables will be sold to recycling facilities, where they will be processed and upcycled into products such as t-shirts, eco-bricks, chairs, and tables.
Currently, PET bottle waste generated at BBC is estimated at 20 kilograms monthly—or about 500 pieces of 500ml bottles—all of which would typically take 450 to 1,000 years to decompose. Through this initiative, BPI aims to divert a significant portion of that volume away from landfills and into a circular economy model.
The “Turn Waste Into Points” campaign will run until September 24, 2025, reflecting BPI’s ongoing commitment to sustainability by encouraging individuals to make small, meaningful actions that contribute to a more sustainable future.

MANILA — Acer Day 2025 at the Mall of Asia Arena was an epic night of technology, music, and star power with some of the country’s biggest artists sharing one stage! More importantly, the evening was a celebration of its theme, “Break A Limit,” highlighting the drive to overcome obstacles, reach new milestones, and push boundaries. Returning for its ninth consecutive year, Acer Day set the stage for performances by its star-studded roster of ambassadors Sarah Geronimo, SB19, and G22. Acer also welcomed its new ambassadors from Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition Housemates Klarisse De Guzman, Mika Salamanca, Shuvee Etrata, Esnyr Ranollo, Will Ashley, Brent Manalo, Ralph De Leon, and Charlie Fleming. They were joined by guest artists KMKZ, Itchyworms, and Maki. The event was hosted by Robi Domingo.
As is Acer Day tradition, there were many collaborative stages, demonstrating that breaking the limit is possible.
PBB Celebrity Collab winner duo BreKa performed “Tibok” by Earl Agustin, Ralph and Shuvee thrilled the crowd with “Palagi” by TJ Monterde and KZ Tandingan, and Klarisse and SB19’s Stell gave a vocal masterclass with “A Million Dreams.” Will, Charlie, and Esnyr showed their powerful dance moves along with SB19 in their song “CRIMZONE.”
The Honmoon was sealed with G22’s performance of “Golden,” and Pop Royalty Sarah Geronimo showed MOA Arena why Popsters have remained loyal through the years as she performed “Tala” and “Kilometro.” SB19 did not disappoint the waiting crowd with their hits “DAM” and “DUNGKA!”
More electrifying collaboration stages set the Mall of Asia Arena on fire with SB19 and G22’s performance of “8tonball,” and the most anticipated first live performance of “Umaaligid” by SB19 and Sarah Geronimo. The night ended with Acer’s original song, “Ace Your World.”

MANILA, Philippines –– In line with its #SustainableSnacking commitment and advocacy for responsible waste management, Mondelēz International in the Philippines recently joined a coastal cleanup at Harbor View Front along Manila Bay. The event was held in partnership with Friends of HOPE, PCX Markets, the local government of Manila and the company’s employee volunteers.

The shoreline of Manila Bay—one of the country’s iconic yet polluted bodies of water—served as a fitting venue. Located in a dense urban area, the site offered participants a clear, local view of the environmental impact of unmanaged waste, underscoring the need for collective action. “Manila Bay is part of the ecosystem we live in, and seeing the waste firsthand makes our impact more tangible,” said Caitlin Punzalan, Corporate and Government Affairs Lead, Mondelēz International in the Philippines.
The activity brought together Mondelēz International employees, joining forces with local volunteers to remove plastic waste, collecting a total of 60 kilograms of waste, composed of both plastic and non-plastic material. “At Mondelez International, we believe even small, but consistent actions can lead to big impact,” Punzalan shared. “Our coastal cleanup effort is just one way our colleagues are putting our #SustainableSnacking agenda into motion—by showing up for the communities and ecosystems we share. It’s also a learning experience for them, to see the realities of the waste management issue in our community.”
Plastic waste collected during the cleanup was carefully weighed by Friends of Hope through its flagship collection program Aling Tindera. This ensured proper documentation and traceability of the recovered materials—an important step in supporting the circular waste economy.
Aling Tindera is Friends of HOPE’s pioneering waste-to-cash initiative which aims to promote the collection and diversion of plastic waste from nature, while educating the public on responsible waste management practices. In each site, residents can bring their collected plastic waste from home and exchange it for cash. By establishing these networks of neighborhood sustainability champions, Mondelēz International and its partners aim to inspire behavior change and provide sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities.
According to Rudi Ramin, Commercial Director at PCX Markets, “Partnerships like these are critical in moving the needle on plastic waste recovery. Mondelēz International has been a consistent and engaged stakeholder—actively working with us to not only meet compliance, but to help empower local communities through the Aling Tindera network.”
This coastal cleanup is part of a broader sustainability journey for Mondelēz International. In 2024, the company was recognized with the Plastic Cleanup Partner badge, awarded to organizations that exceeded compliance targets under the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) law—a reflection of the company’s drive to go above and beyond what is mandated.
To further scale its impact, Mondelēz International has supported the establishment of two Aling Tindera collection hubs in Barangay BF Homes and SM City Sucat, created in close collaboration with Friends of Hope and PCX Markets. These hubs offer local communities accessible drop-off points for plastic waste, while also supporting livelihood opportunities for women micro-entrepreneurs.
“Beyond just compliance, we see this as our responsibility to the environment and to future generations,” added Punzalan. “It’s not just about picking up plastic, it’s about building better systems, engaging our people, and making sustainability a part of our everyday culture.”
