Conti’s Bakeshop and Restaurant upped the sweet spirit of Christmas by surprising random customers with free Mango Bravo cakes and a heartfelt request to share the joy with a stranger.
Diners who received a complimentary Mango Bravo were given another whole cake and were encouraged to pass the kindness forward by giving the second cake to a random person.
“The act of paying it forward fosters a sense of connection and community. Sharing Mango Bravo with a stranger is a simple yet powerful way to bridge gaps and strengthen the bonds between people,” Patricia Marañon-Tan, one of the daughters of Conti’s founder, said.
“In a world that can sometimes feel chaotic, simple acts of kindness stand out. It has the power to create a positive and uplifting environment.”
Conti’s chose to give away Mango Bravo cakes because it’s the most sought-after delicacy from the beloved food brand’s roster of delectable dessert offerings, and has been a part of many family’s Noche Buena for the past 26 years.
“Our signature cake represents indulgence and celebration. It’s not just a treat for the taste buds but a symbol of joy and festivity,” Marañon-Tan said.
“Christmas is a season of giving, and what better way to celebrate it than by sharing the joy our beloved Mango Bravo brings. It’s a small gesture that we hope will inspire a chain of kindness that will make a lot of people’s holiday season brighter.”
The special project was captured in a video that had been getting a lot of attention and spreading warm holiday cheer on Conti’s Facebook page (https://bit.ly/3tsAyLc) where it was posted.

Gift-giving makes the holiday season even more magical and festive. But the truth is: many people deal with pre-holiday jitters from the pressure of finding the perfect gift to delight family and friends.
This should not dampen the holiday cheer. Gifts are not required to be new or expensive, and there are so many amazing gift items that are not just thoughtful and economical, but also eco-friendly.
Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines, Inc. highly supports sustainable practices during the holiday season. As part of its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitment, PCPPI encourages Filipinos to practice a green lifestyle during the most wonderful time of the year.
With less than a month to go until Christmas, PCPPI shared some sustainable gift ideas worth considering this season:
Upcycled clothing
Instead of going to the mall to buy gifts, you might want to turn to your closet first. Your old clothes can go a long way with a little creativity. By upcycling clothes, you can help reduce clothing waste.
Transform old jeans into shorts or create a trendy top from a pre-loved shirt. This low-cost gift idea will surely convey your thoughtfulness, appreciation, and care for the receiver.
Making food with love
The options for oven-baked recipes are endless! Cookies, classic baked chicken, lasagna—You can never go wrong with these delightful eats.
Make sure to buy ingredients from stores that offer local, fresh, and healthy options. Learn more about farmers and fishermen who can bring their goods directly to your neighborhood. Spread happiness this season through scrumptious and nutritious food.
Digital gifts
No gift list, no problem. Digital presents or e-gifts are great gift ideas that will surely save holiday shoppers from the stress of searching for tangible presents. Ideas may range from online shopping vouchers, access to streaming platforms, or even greeting cards.
With limitless options online, these gifts are also easier to send to your long-distance friends and loved ones.
Reusable items
Influence your family and friends to embrace a more sustainable lifestyle by gifting them reusable items.
Some of the best items available include stainless straws or utensils, reusable glass containers, and tumblers. Using these items will help reduce plastic disposable waste.
PCPPI is the country’s exclusive manufacturer and distributor of well-known beverage brands such as Pepsi-Cola, Mountain Dew, 7Up, Mirinda, Mug, Gatorade, Tropicana, Lipton, Sting, Premier Purified Water, Milkis, and Chum Churum Soonhari. For more information, please visit www.pepsiphilippines.com.
Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF), the social responsibility arm of Jollibee Group, continues to capacitate youth scholars, farmers, and local farming communities nationwide through its local implementing partners like the Sacred Heart Savings Cooperative (SHSC) in Galimuyod, Ilocos Sur.
JGF’s Farmer Entrepreneurship Program (FEP) has been enabling several SHSC members and groups through scholarships and training since 2013.
The Tagudin Agroentrepeneurs Association, Inc. (TAA), was the first farmer group organized by SHSC through the agro-enterprise clustering approach introduced by JGF. SHSC has been assisting TAA in marketing their products, agri-financing and agri technologies, among others.
“Dati kasi wala naman kaming kakayahan na magkaroon ng capital dahil nakatutok lang kami sa pagtatanim. Pero dahil sa tulong ng coop at ng JGF ay natulungan kaming makapagumpisa at magkaroon ng magandang variety ng binhi. Naturuan din kami ng iba pang kaalaman tungkol sa pagsasaka at pagnenegosyo,” said TAA’s General Manager, Michael Lorica. (“Before, we didn’t have the ability to have capital because we only focused on planting. But with the help of the coop and JGF, we were able to start planting and have access to a good variety of seeds. We were also taught other knowledge about farming and doing business.”)
“Bukod pa dito, siyempre malaking bagay rin sa amin na meron na kaming sure buyer para sa aming mga produkto” he added. (“In addition to this, of course it is also a big deal for us that we now have a sure buyer for our products.”)
FEP centers on developing smallholder farmers’ leadership and technical skills by helping them become direct suppliers of high-quality vegetables to corporate buyers such as the Jollibee Group and ensure their sustainable profitability.
With a huge pool of farmers under their cooperative, SHSC farmer members have become part of the Jollibee Group’s growing roster of produce suppliers. They started supplying green bell peppers, tomatoes, and hot peppers to the Jollibee Group in 2018. Apart from vegetables, SHSC has expanded its products for the restaurant company by supplying white onions in 2022. The SHSC farmer members have delivered a total of 170 tons of vegetables to the Jollibee Group to date.
TAA farmers, for their part, have been supplying white onions to the Jollibee Group brands since 2015. They have provided almost 600 tons of their products since their first delivery.
Farmer collaboration
For Lorica, the years of partnership between SHSC and JGF have helped reshape their mindset as member farmers and now, as entrepreneurs.
“Dahil iba-iba ang covered ng seminar ni JGF marami sa mga nakagawiang pamamaraan namin ang nabago. Kasama na rito ang paggamit ng consolidation area to promote food safety at mga training tulad ng AE Clustering Approach, soil testing, at livelihood recovery program. Tinulungan din nila kami na makakuha ng mga sapat na accreditation gaya ng Good Agricultural Practices,” he said. (“Many of our usual methods have been changed because of the different topics covered by JGF’s seminars. This includes using a consolidation area to promote food safety and trainings such as AE Clustering approach, soil testing, and livelihood recovery program. They also helped us get adequate accreditations such as Good Agricultural Practices.”)
“Ngunit para sakin ang isa pang malaking pinapagpasalamat namin sa JGF ay ang pagbibigay nila ng training para sa farming para sa mga kabataan dahil patuloy nang tumatanda ang edad ng mga magsasaka,” Lorica added. (“But for me, another big thing that we’re thankful for about JGF is how they provide farming training for the youth, mainly because the farmers in the country are continuously aging”)
Apart from providing opportunities for economically disadvantaged sectors, JGF, through its Access, Curriculum, and Employability (ACE) Scholarship program, partners with technical-vocational training institutions to provide indigent youth with the opportunity to stay in school by developing their agro-entrepreneurship skills.
The ACE Scholarship Program aligns with the United Nations’ transformative Sustainable Development Goals aimed at bringing peace and prosperity to the world, particularly its Quality Education (SDG4), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG8), and Reduced Inequalities (SDG10) pillars.
Commitment to contribute
JGF has long been committed to developing relevant, effective, and sustainable programs. With the support of its partner communities and institutions, JGF continues to leverage its expertise and resources to create valuable interventions that help uplift the lives of many Filipino farmers.
“We believe that by fostering a sustainable collaboration between the Jollibee Group and FEP partners like SHSC, we help strengthen the future of the country’s agricultural sector. Together with our partners, we will continue to develop FEP into a more inclusive and expansive program that would help address the urgent needs of various farming communities and expose them to new and innovative farming practices,” said JGF President Gisela Tiongson.
Since 2009, the FEP has capacitated 25 farmer groups of more than 3,000 farmers. To date, these farmers have supplied a combined 10.7 million kilos worth of assorted vegetables to Jollibee Group, which amounts to Php477 million in sales.
foodpanda logistics is set to host its highly anticipated ‘Pau-tastic Event ng Taon’ for the second consecutive year, promising a grand nationwide year-end celebration dedicated to their Ka-panda delivery partners.
Scheduled for December 20 at the Globe Circuit Events Ground in Circuit Makati, this event aims to commemorate the hard work and dedication of these modern-day road heroes while fostering a sense of community and appreciation.
With over 2,000 delivery partners expected to attend, this year’s festivities promise an array of delights, designed as a gesture of gratitude and a testament to the significant contributions of the delivery partners in ensuring efficient and timely service to customers.
According to foodpanda logistics Operations Manager Ruben Mariano, what sets this year’s celebration apart is the special inclusion of Ka-pandas from provinces across North Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. “The event embodies our heartfelt appreciation for the contributions of our delivery partners nationwide. We want to celebrate and thank all our delivery partners, no matter where they’re from, so we’re inviting Ka-pandas from provinces too, not just Metro Manila.”
The ‘Pau-tastic Event ng Taon’ Year 2 promises a day brimming with engaging activities such as raffles, games, and specially curated music to entertain and honor the delivery partners.
“We’ve lined up popular and trendy games we know our Ka-pandas will love! We want them to have a blast while grabbing awesome prizes,” Mariano shared.
Adding to the excitement, local artists and bands are set to grace the stage for an electrifying concert experience for attendees. “There will be amazing performances lined up from local artists like Salbakuta, ALLMO$T, Yeng Constantino, 6 Cycle Mind, and Rico Blanco.”
foodpanda logistics has also joined hands with government partners like Pag-IBIG and PhilHealth, and brand sponsors such as PepsiCo, Selecta, New World Diagnostics (NWD), Motivo, Caltex, POSH, JUANLIFE, Jollibee Food Corporation, and The Generics Pharmacy (TGP), to make this celebration possible.
“We want this to be an event to remember. This year-end party serves as a testament to our commitment to building a supportive community among our delivery partners and showcasing the spirit of gratitude during this festive season.”
The ‘Pau-tastic Event ng Taon’ Year 2 will be streamed live via foodpanda riders’ official Facebook page and pandaridersPH’s official TikTok account, allowing a broader audience to join in and witness the festivities.
Supporting Ka-pandas nationwide
Throughout the year, the pandaPatrol: Hub on Wheels ventured into various cities and provinces nationwide, organizing engaging games and activities while serving as a support hub for delivery partners. At the upcoming event, the pink-colored bus will also be present to serve as a redemption booth where Ka-pandas can redeem foodpanda logistics merchandise. A Rider Support Express booth will also be at the event, further showcasing the company’s commitment to supporting its delivery partners.
“We’re here for our Ka-pandas every step of the way. From fun events like the year-end party where they bond with fellow delivery partners, to our panda Patrol Hub assisting their concerns all year-round. It’s about continuously supporting them and creating an inclusive environment where their voices are heard, their needs are met, and their hardwork is appreciated,” Mariano assured.
A pioneering event promoting the Philippines as a world-class health and wellness destination will have a rerun on January 26-28, 2024, at the SMX Convention Center at the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.
Dubbed the Health & Wellness CONFEX 2024, the three-day event will gather under one roof the stakeholders of the multi-trillion-dollar health and wellness industry – from award-winning wellness resorts to globally accredited hospitals that provide medical tourism packages, all the way to organic farms and specialty shops that offer a wide array of innovative, sustainable and eco-friendly health and wellness products and services.
With the theme “Go &Get Better,” the event highlights the promotion of regenerative tourism, which, in essence, is a strong call for making the places we visit better than we found them and pursuing economic growth while managing the social and environmental impacts of our visit.
The event is, in fact, the centerpiece of a global multi-media campaign that aims to showcase the country’s many health and wellness destinations and will feature an exhibit, a conference, business matching sessions, and various experiential activities. It is considered the only trade fair in the Philippines promoting health and wellness tourism, products, and services. The ConFex will also launch its innovative television travel show-vlog that will allow viewers to explore the fascinating world of health and wellness amid the breathtaking natural wonders of the Philippines. Called OTW, the acronym for “On Travel & Wellness,” it will take viewers on a virtual trip to the country’s many tourist spots while highlighting, at the same time, the importance of wellbeing, of keeping healthy and safe while leading an active lifestyle.
The 13-episode show will provide stunning views of the sun-kissed beaches, magnificent dive sites, towering mountains, and verdant woodlands that the Philippines is famous for, and it will also provide an in-depth look at the country’s diverse wellness practices – including traditional healing arts – through compelling anecdotes and discussions with regional experts. OTW will air on GMA 7’s GTV.
On its third day, the event will likewise hold a Wellness Festival called Masigabo with various programs and activities that pay tribute to the industry and sacrifices of the migrant workers, better known as overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). On-hand activities are designed to make them feel better, relaxed, and loved. Health and wellness experts will also deliver talks about financial health, physical wellness, beauty, sustainability, environmental protection, government regulations, and more.
Health & Wellness CONFEX 2024 is co-presented by the Department of Tourism (DOT), in partnership with the Department of Health DOH), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), Duty Free Philippines (DFP), and Tourism Promotions Board (TPB).
