Simpao, Jr., SBFI Chairman; Hon. Emary Joy D. Pascual, Mayor of Gapan City; Dr. Enrique E. Angeles, Jr., Schools Division Superintendent; Hon. Paul Michael Amparado, Barangay Captain of San Vicente, Gapan; and Julita Aguilar, Principal of Gapan East Integrated School
Gapan City, Nueva Ecija – Security Bank Foundation, Inc. (SBFI) turned over a newly constructed two-storey, six-classroom school building to Gapan East Integrated School (GEIS) in Nueva Ecija, marking another milestone in its flagship program “Build a School, Build a Nation: The Classrooms Project.”
The donation helps ease GEIS’s classroom shortage, giving over 1,200 students and teachers a more conducive space to learn, grow, and dream. Despite limited resources, GEIS has consistently excelled—scoring above the national average in problem-solving, information literacy, and critical thinking during the 2023–2024 National Achievement Test, even outperforming more than 90% of Metro Manila schools.
“Some of us may feel that the task of addressing the problems of education in our country is so overwhelming that the efforts we are exerting would hardly make a difference. But I do not agree because I believe in the power of persistent cumulative influence.”, said SBFI Chairman Rafael F. Simpao, Jr.
“Sanay po kami na ang LGU ang nagbibigay. Napakasarap po palang mabigyan at maalala. Mahiyain po kami kaya kami na bahala sa repair,” said Hon. Emary Joy D. Pascual, Gapan City Mayor.
“Sa pagtanggap ng gusaling ito, pangako naming pupunuin ang bawat silid ng mga kwento ng inspirasyon, pag-asa, at pagmamahal, mga kwentong huhubog sa mga kabataang magiging pag-asa at pagbabago ng ating bayan,” said Dr. Enrique E. Angeles, Jr., CESO VI, Schools Division Superintendent of Gapan City, adding that the new building symbolizes the shared hope and commitment to education of the city and Security Bank Foundation.
Beyond classrooms, Security Bank Foundation also invests in educator development through partnerships such as with Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle Philippines, offering programs such as the Principals’ Training Program. One former GEIS Assistant Principal—now leading Lupang Pangarap Elementary School—is currently enrolled in this initiative.
To date, SBFI has donated 851 classrooms to 146 schools across 87 cities and municipalities nationwide—each one a testament to its belief that nation-building begins with a single classroom.

Hope in Every Hue: SM Cares Champions Pink October 2025

The SM Mall of Asia Globe lights up in pink, shining a beacon of hope for breast cancer awareness.
MANILA, Philippines — In celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, SM Cares, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of SM Supermalls, united communities nationwide through its Pink October 2025 campaign — a month-long series of mall activities dedicated to promoting early detection, awareness, and support for breast cancer warriors, survivors, and advocates
This year’s celebration began with the pink illumination of the SM Mall of Asia Globe and The Cube at SM Seaside City Cebu, symbolizing solidarity and hope for thousands of women and families affected by breast cancer across the country. The glowing globe stood as a national beacon of support, marking the start of SM’s continued advocacy for women’s health and empowerment.
In SM Seaside City Cebu and SM City Cebu, the campaign extended throughout the month with a series of engaging and meaningful activities. These included free breast examinations, a Pink Cancer Chat featuring survivors and advocates, a Pink Fashion Runway, a Pink Tote Exhibit, and a Pink Healing Mass, highlighting the importance of both physical and emotional well-being in the journey toward recovery.
Down south, SM City Davao celebrated Pink October 2025 on October 9, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Downtown Davao, the City Government of Davao, and Breast Friends, a local advocacy group of survivors and supporters. The event featured the unveiling of the Pink Ribbon, the opening of the Pink Pop-Up Fair with Watsons and other wellness partners, free breast screenings and health forums, health and safety drills, and a Pink Runway and Zumba event, where survivors and advocates walked in upcycled fashion pieces designed by local creatives.

A walk of courage and grace — the Pink Runway at SM City Davao celebrates the strength of breast cancer warriors, turning the spotlight on hope, resilience, and the power of community.
“Through Pink October, SM Cares continues to stand with every woman, survivor, and advocate in the fight against breast cancer. We remain committed to promoting awareness, early detection, and support for the health and wellness of all women,” said Atty. Pearly Joan Jayagan Turley, SM Cares Program Director for Women and Breastfeeding Mothers.
By working closely with medical experts, advocacy groups, and local communities, SM Cares reinforces its leadership in championing women’s health and wellness. The Pink October campaign also underscores how SM Supermalls continues to bring people together for causes that matter — creating a ripple of compassion and courage that shines bright in pink across the nation.
Celebrating 40 Super Years of Evolving With Every You, SM Supermalls—one of Southeast Asia’s largest mall developers with 89 malls in the Philippines—marks four decades of growing with Filipinos and becoming a trusted space where diverse lifestyles and generations connect, while continuously evolving to redefine the malling experience through sustainability, innovation, and a deep commitment to shaping the future of retail and urban life with inclusive and meaningful experiences.
From dreams to reality with GLoan: A working student’s journey to becoming a lawyer
Atty. Sheila Mae Gomez from Iloilo takes her oath as a new lawyer — a milestone she achieved with the help of GLoan, a digital micro-lending service powered by Fuse Financing Inc., the lending arm of GCash
For many working students, the road to higher education is filled with sacrifices, sleepless nights, and financial uncertainty. For one determined Ilongga, that journey has finally come full circle with a dream realized and the bar successfully passed.
Balancing a full-time job while studying law at Central Philippine University was no easy feat. The pressure of exams, recitations, and maintaining employment was already challenging. But perhaps the biggest hurdle of all was financial.
“I’ve been exposed to legal matters through my work, and I took up law to gain the right knowledge and prepare myself for when it’s needed,” shared Sheila Mae Gomez, who graduated in 2023 and passed the bar in 2024.
“I also pursued law studies to build confidence, make smarter decisions, and help others when they’re dealing with tricky legal situations. For me, becoming a lawyer isn’t just about the title—it’s a chance to stand up for justice, protect people’s rights, and make a real difference by helping others find fair solutions,” she said.
Despite having a monthly income, the cost of legal education was still a challenge for Gomez. “Every enrollment and exam season brought anxiety,” she added. “That’s when GLoan became one of my most reliable yet silent personal partner.”
“It is unfortunate that loans are often seen in a negative light,” remarked Gomez, “but I believe that borrowing, when done with purpose, can be a powerful tool and a smart investment, especially when it supports your education and personal growth.”
GLoan, a service offered by Fuse Financing Inc., the lending arm of GCash, stood out for its simplicity and transparency. With no documentary requirements, no collaterals, quick approval process, clear terms, and no hidden surprises, it provided much-needed peace of mind.
“There was no drama. I didn’t have to risk my relationships by borrowing from family or friends,” she shared. “With GLoan, I immediately saw how much I would receive and what my monthly payments would be,” she expressed.
Now officially a lawyer, she looks back on the journey with gratitude, having finally earned the title “Atty.” that now precedes her name and established a law office to serve her immediate community.
“With the support of my family, friends, and GLoan, I was able to pass the bar. And even now, as I begin this new chapter, GCash continues to be part of my financial journey,” shared Gomez.
To others dreaming of pursuing further studies, her message is clear: “Don’t hesitate to invest in yourself. The road is always tough, but it’s not impossible to reach your dreams.”

PNP ACG, CICC, GCash remind users to stay alert vs scams ahead of Undas 2025
PNP ACG, CICC and GCash urge Filipinos to stay alert against scams and fraudsters ahead of Undas 2025
As Filipinos prepare to head home to honor their departed loved ones this Undas, GCash reminds everyone to stay alert—not just on the road, but also online. With increased activity during the holidays, scammers often take advantage of users through text and chat messages that pretend to be from official GCash channels.
“As we commemorate this season of remembering our departed loved ones, digital safety remains a top priority. GCash continues to strengthen its systems and educate users to recognize and avoid scams, especially spoofing,” said Miguel Geronilla, GCash chief information security officer.
Be informed of scam tactics
Scammers are very cunning and will employ different ways to deceive people. One of the common scams to be alert to is spoofing—a type of online scam where fraudsters disguise their identity to make messages, emails, or calls appear as if they’re coming from trusted sources like GCash or other official institutions.
Watch out for spoofed messages
These messages may look official, but the goal is to trick users into clicking on malicious links or sharing sensitive information such as OTPs, MPINs, or account details. Never click suspicious links or share personal details like your OTP, MPIN, or account credentials.
Be alert against fake pages and impersonators
Some spoofing attempts come from fake GCash Facebook pages or Messenger accounts designed to look real. Check for the verified blue checkmark and report suspicious accounts. The only official page is GCash Official.
Never share your MPIN or OTP
Fraudsters may pose as GCash agents offering “account verification” or “cashback.” GCash will never ask for your MPIN, OTP, or personal details. Sharing these gives scammers access to your account. Always double-check before responding to any message.
Remember: GCash will never send links via SMS, email, or chat apps. Only transact through the official GCash app or verified GCash channels on Facebook and Messenger.
Spot suspicious links
If you receive a link claiming to fix an account issue or confirm a transaction, don’t click it. Phishing pages are designed to steal your login credentials. Instead, open your GCash app directly to verify any alerts or transactions.
Report and stay informed
If you think you’ve received a spoofed message or encountered a phishing attempt, immediately report it through the Help Center in the GCash app. The GCash security teams continuously monitor and act on reported scams to protect users.
Individuals who have fallen victim to scams are encouraged to report and file cases to initiate the investigation. For assistance, the public can contact the PNP ACG through their hotlines at (02) 8414-1560 or 0998-598-8116, or via email at acg@pnp.gov.ph and the CICC national hotline at 1326 or mobile number 0991 4814225, or via email at report@cicc.gov.ph.
GCash users may also report suspected fraudulent activities to the official GCash Help Center at help.gcash.com by messaging Gigi, “I want to report a scam.” Customers can also contact the official GCash hotline at 2882 for inquiries and other concerns.
For more information and updates on cybersecurity, visit the PNP-ACG Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/anticybercrimegroup and GCash website at https://www.gcash.com.
By staying vigilant and informed, you can honor your loved ones this Undas without falling for scams.
Filipinos can download the GCash app for free on Google Play or the App Store. For safety reminders and updates, visit the official Facebook page at GCash Official.
