‘Rizal sa Espana’ float scores top prize in the Grand Float Competition
SM City Calamba designed and created an impressive float that won the top prize at the recently concluded Buhayani Festival Grand Float Competition held at Rizal Shrine in Calamba, Laguna.
“We take pride in the Filipino culture as we show our support by promoting and joining fun, local celebrations, such as the Buhayani Festival. This recent win definitely makes us even more proud to be part of the community,” said Engr. John Jason Terrenal, senior assistant vice president for South Luzon Mall Operations.
SM Calamba’s ‘Rizal sa España’ float was inspired by the life of Rizal in Spain. The façade showed a replica of Universidad Central de Madrid where Rizal studied medicine to fulfill his dream of becoming a doctor. Behind it was a library which emphasized Rizal’s exemplary performance and traits as a student. The dockyard where Rizal began his journey in Madrid was also included in the float, as well as the paper and pen which strongly symbolizes his wisdom and his great contribution in attaining the country’s sovereignty.
Since 2014, SM City Calamba has been taking part in the Buhayani Festival, which has gained recognition and support from the local community – from schools, government agencies, private establishments and local organizations. The Buhayani Festival is Calamba City’s way to celebrate the life of its homegrown hero and the National Hero of the Philippines, Gat. Jose Rizal. “Buhayani” is derived from two Filipino words, “buhay” (life) and “bayani” (hero).

From making sure that all travel documents are ready, to choosing the right luggage to bring and knowing the appropriate clothes to pack, preparing for any kind of getaway may be nerve-racking. To make things easier the next time you’re going on an out-of-town trip or flying to another country, here’s a checklist of items you should not forget to pack in your bag:
Reusable water bottle. Exploring a different city means that you will be walking around the streets and taking public commute for hours. One of your best travel companions to keep you energized and hydrated during your adventures is a cool bottle of water. While you can always buy from convenience stores, it is recommended to bring your handy tumbler which you can always refill anytime for free.

Today’s society is more open to change, may it be to our lifestyle or outward appearance. As social conditions and gender roles change, so is the beauty standard. Change in one’s self is not only for boosting the confidence, it is accepting that we can enhance our awareness to our own needs.
There is a misconception about plastic surgery, people think that it’s only for aesthetic purposes. Plastic surgery is actually a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. New Life is not all about aesthetics. They are all about the patient’s desire and motivation to pursue plastic surgery whether it’s for a personal reason or a medical one. New Life also values the patient’s feelings about the changes and how this can improve their quality of life.
In line with this, New Life Aesthetic announced that they are searching for two new Angels, one female and one male who wants to undergo life-changing transformation through surgical and non-surgical procedures.

The Second Round will officially commence on August 15, 2019. The battle round will be a combination of popularity contest.

The Battle Round is designed to get the TOP 40 candidates to compete against each other. Here’s how the battle rounds go:
The top 40 candidates will be invited for a photoshoot between August, 10 – 14, 2019. The pictures taken will be used in the Battle Rounds. Successful candidates, who are unable to attend the photoshoot because of their distance to Manila, may opt to submit their photos through email.
On August 15, 2019 at exactly 12 noon, photos of each of the top 40 candidates will be published in their Facebook page. From then onward, voting kicks off. The photos of the top 40 will be pegged against each other and anyone on Facebook may vote for them.
The number of votes will be computed based on the following “Point Assignment”:
The candidate gets 10 votes for every share made on his/her photo and 7 votes for every comment posted. Emoji reactions will be valued based on the above point assignment.
The result of the vote shall form 70% of the total score. 30% will be coming from the panel of judges. This time, the panel of judges are exclusively from NEWLIFE.
